The library is the heart of higher education, because the library has a strategic position as a vehicle for providing information and knowledge for students and is also an exciting place for users to browse and find various collections, be it journals, books, or various collections of learning videos and audios.The role, function, and position of libraries are so strategic that the organization of libraries is regulated by Law Number 43 of 2007 concerning Libraries. In Article 14 point (3), it is explained that “Every library develops library services in accordance with advances in information and communication technology”. To achieve all that, the library must always improve with the times and technology. One of the changes made by the Undip FEB Library is by changing the automation system from the SIMAWEB program to the Slims program which is considered more friendly and its features follow the times.
To develop the skills and capabilities of human resources within the FEB Library, on Monday, October 24, 2022, Librarian Education has been implemented which focuses on the FEB Library development plan and Slims Program training which was held in room 309, Laboratory Building 3rd floor. The event was attended by FEB Undip Library staff, both at the Tembalang campus library and the Pleburan campus. The event ran smoothly from 08.00 – 16.00 .
The event started with an opening by the MC (Nila Nurjanah, S.Sos.), then continued with remarks by the Deputy Dekan I for Academic and Student Affairs, as well as opening the event. Mr. Firmansyah, S.E., M.Sc., PhD said that he really supports the development of the FEB Library towards a Digital Library by adding room infrastructure, computers, desk and chair facilities, as well as a collection of E-Books. Hopefully the Undip FEB Library will become the “face” and a more prestigious place for student learning. Next, the main event was the presentation of material I, which was delivered by Mr. Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom., as the Head of UPT Library and Undip Press, with the topic of Slims integration policy at Undip. He conveyed the University’s library development policy, namely renovating buildings, and building a better service system. One of them is by integrating and equating the existing catalogs in the faculty with the university using the Slims program. The event continued with material II which was delivered by Mrs. Dr. Endang Fatmawati, M.Sc., M.A., as the Head of the Undip Faculty of Economics and Business Library, with the topic Introduction to the Slims System Environment. He explained why he chose the Slims program, how it was superior to other programs, then explained the Slims program in detail. The event continued with a question and answer session, many questions arose in the discussion session this time, especially about the technical integration of data from the Faculty to the University.Entering 12.00 pm, the ISHOMA event, participants are welcome to rest, eat, and pray until 13.00 pm. The event was continued with the presentation of material III on the Operation of Slims which was delivered by Mr. Erwan Setyobudi S.Hum. He is the librarian of the Semarang Poltekes Library who focuses on developing the Slims Program, then continued with material IV delivered by Mr. Puji Sutrisno (IT Faculty of Economics and Business FEB) about Slims Tricks Tips. In the 4th and 5th sessions, the technical operation of the Slims program was presented and how the obstacles were, as well as how the migration process and future improvements would be. After that, the participants were guided to practice using Slims, especially practices on circulation services, member card input, and data collection input. The FEB Library team that has successfully conducted independent practice are: Sanipan, Eriana Ringgowati, Gunawan, and Yuwono.
